PROBLEM STATEMENT

Nursing homes across the nation face critical staff shortages, with nearly 58% of the country’s 14,000 facilities limiting admissions due to insufficient staff, according to the American Health Association.

At the same time, many individuals eager to gain experience in senior care lack accessible platforms to find short-term caregiving opportunities. This gap highlights the need for a mobile app that connects temporary caregivers with senior home staff, helping to ease staffing shortages while providing caregivers with flexible, paid work

DEVELOPED THE FEATURES BASED ON MARKET RESEARCH CONDUCTED

I analyzed several existing caregiver platforms, including ClearCareGo Caregiver, Care.com, and CareLinx. Based on these gaps, here are Locum Caregiver's features:

Job Board
User can find short-term shifts based on their location and availability (times and dates) to work

Time Tracker
User can easily log their work hours through the app, ensuring transparency and accurate recordkeeping.

Invoice Payment
Generates invoices based on the logged hours and send them directly to the user

USER FLOW

I created a user flow highlighting key features like Job Status, Time Tracker, and Settings. These features enable users to find available opportunities, track hours worked for payment, and manage their profiles.

REFLECTION

Designing Locum Caregiver as a self-initiated project was a rewarding experience that allowed me to implement graphic design and UX into solve a problem. By streamlining scheduling, time tracking, and volunteer coordination, I hope it can help ease day-to-day pressures and contribute to better care for older adults.
