Today, 7 million people are food insecure and desperately poor. About half that number don’t know where their next meal is coming from. And 60 million children under the age of five are stunted- cognitively and physically impaired for life - due to nutritional deficiencies.
More than 150 Nobel and World Food Prize Laureates have come together with a warning statement: the world must act now to prevent a growing hunger crisis. This letter is to call on global leaders to support science-driven solutions—what they describe as “moonshot” efforts—to ensure everyone has enough nutritious food in the decades ahead. The appeal was coordinated by Cary Fowler, joint 2024 World Food Prize Laureate, former U.S. Special Envoy for Global Food Security.
